Prior Learning Assessment and Review (PLAR)

The Prior Learning Assessment Review (PLAR) is an approved process through the Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC) where by a diver who has received formal training may apply for credit towards a DCBC certificate.  This process is approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) as it leads to a certificate of an approved CDI program.

The PLAR  is conducted in strict accordance to the Diver Certification Board of Canada guidance notes to ensure it meets all the current CSA Z275.4 competency requirements for certification by the DCBC.  Each PLAR applicant receives an independant review to determine the training requirements.

Who Qualifies for a PLAR?

  • Divers with a qualification from another certifying agencies that wish to upgrade to a DCBC certificate.
  • Divers with expired DCBC qualifications that have not met the renewal requirements.

How to get started?

  • Click the ‘Apply Now’ and register for the PLAR 
  • Submit the Requested Documentation for Review by the Admissions Department
  • The Admissions Department will present a PLAR training plan which will then include:
    1. Selection of Training Dates
    2. Tuition Fees
