Inshore Air Diving Supervisor (DCBC)

If you’re an experienced Unrestricted Surface Supplied Diver looking for an opportunity for career advancement then then the Supervisor course is for you. This 40hr course will provide you with the tools to manage a dive site within the current CSA Z275.2 Occupational Safety Code for Diving Operations and provincial OHS Rules. In addition, you will gain exposure to the IMCA International Code of Practice as Canadian Diving Contractors are now in many areas requiring full IMCA compliance from clients within the oil sector.

Matrix development for risk evaluation and management of risk will be key topics presented. Digital ‘Asset Management Systems’ will also be introduced to demonstrate new tools in managing diving resources, risks, personnel competency, safety bulletins & resource test certificates to ensure compliance with regulatory, code and client requirements. The Supervisor course will also provide guidance on industry best practices for decision making, dive project planning, recording, documenting production and human resource management.

The course also overviews the competency requirements of the Unrestricted Surface Supplied diver as published within the current CSA Z275.4 Competency Code. The supervisor course will also take you out onto the CAT 1 Barge to review a dive spread, covering off breathing gas delivery systems right through to Sur-d-02 protocols and LARS systems.

The pre-requisites for the Supervisor course are that you must be certified for not less than 3 years as a Unrestricted Surface Supplied diver and have a minimum 250 logged surface supplied dives. Contact the CDI Admissions Department for any questions regarding pre-requisites.
